Owatonna Foundation Non-Traditional Scholarship Recipients


The Owatonna Foundation awards Traditional and Nontraditional Scholarships.  These scholarships are designed for individuals pursuing their education at a technical/community college.  During spring semester 2024, four individuals will use Nontraditional Scholarships to attend a technical/community college. 

 

Nontraditional Scholarship Recipients

·         Ayan Abdulle, Riverland Community College, Nursing, $2,000, parent Halima H. Osman

·         Tate Gfrerer, Riverland Community College, Automotive Service Technology, $2,000, parents Brian and Mollie Gfrerer

·         Jack Ruiter, Riverland Community College, Construction Electrician, $2,000, parents Tracy and Daniel Ruiter

·         Katlyn Schubert, Riverland Community College, Cosmetology, $2,000, parents Jason and Brenda Schubert

 

Since 1995 the Owatonna Foundation has awarded over 490 scholarships, totaling more than $720,000, for individuals preparing for technical careers. 

 

The next deadline for traditional scholarships is April 10, 2024.  Individuals graduating high school in June 2024 who plan to attend a community or technical college, should apply.  Nontraditional scholarships applications are due June 25, 2024.  Applications are available on the Foundation’s website owatonnafoundation.org, Scholarships, and Scholarships; at the Foundation’s office at 108 West Park Square, Owatonna; or from Jill Holmes at 455-3059. 

 

 

 

June A and Melanie Nelson Scholarship for Women Recipient

 

The Owatonna Foundation is pleased to announce that during spring semester 2024, Sarah Snitker will use June A. and Melanie Nelson Scholarship funds.  Sarah is attending San Diego State University and majoring in Bio-Chemistry.  Her parents are Grant and Paula Snitker. 

 

Nelson scholarships are designed to assist women in furthering their education in a career-specific field.  The next scholarship deadline is June 25, 2024.  Applicants must be a high school graduate, a woman pursuing a career-specific field of study and have an Owatonna mailing address or have worked at an Owatonna business for at least the past two years.
