Cheryl Meger

Cheryl is a native of Winsted, Minnesota.   She attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, earning a bachelor’s degree in math and health teaching.   She furthered her education with a master’s degree in school counseling from Winona State University and a license in School Administration from the University of Minnesota. She taught and counseled students at Mankato East and Southwest Middle School in Albert Lea, and for the last 18 years of her career, worked as an Assistant Principal at Lakeville North High School.

Cheryl and her husband Glen moved their family to Owatonna in 1996 and in 2000 became business owners, purchasing a funeral home.  Cheryl joined the staff at Brick-Meger and Medford Funeral Homes in the fall of 2021, after completing a 34-year career in education. She is proud to be a member of the family business, organizing and managing the office, and helping support the morticians in their work with families.

Now that she is working in Owatonna, she is happy to be able to integrate more fully into the community, both through interacting with people at work and in attending community events, joining organizations, and volunteering.

Cheryl currently serves as secretary of the Pastoral Council and is a lector and homebound communion minister for Sacred Heart Church.  She is passionate about gardening and as a Steele County Master Gardener, she participates in volunteer projects providing training, education, and assistance to children and adults with all aspects of gardening. She also assists the Steele County Funeral Unit by playing Taps on her trumpet at military funerals.  Cheryl and Glen have three sons Michael, Alex, and Brett, two daughters-in-law Destinee and Kristin, and five grandsons.
