Sara McKay

Sara McKay joined the Owatonna Foundation in the fall of 2022 and currently serves as the Executive Director. She is a lifelong resident of Owatonna and is a graduate of Owatonna High School and then attended Minnesota State University and earned a degree in Physical Education and a master’s degree in Sport Management. She also has a certificate in Festival and Event Management from the University of Minnesota.

Sara is currently serving on various boards throughout the community including the Owatonna #761 Foundation board, Owatonna Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Exchange Club of Owatonna, Owatonna Business Women, and the Women’s Club of Owatonna.

She has previously served on the Owatonna Youth Hockey Association, serving as President for 2 years, Steele County American Red Cross Board of Directors, the VFW Auxiliary, the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce CVB Board, Southern Minnesota Parks and Recreation Association (SMRPA), Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association (MRPA) serving as Secretary, and the National Parks and Recreation
Association (NRPA). Sara is also a graduate of the Blandin Community Leadership Program.
